during the american civil war, mr. madge went to the battlefield as chaplain, four daughters and her mother at home and lived a poor but strong and optimistic life. although they were poor, they were willing to help hummel, a neighbor who was more in need of help. women have vanity, they want to get beautiful clothes, eat delicious food, live like a princess. although full of fantasy, but in real life, they have been relying on their own efforts to solve all kinds of hardships in life. meg was the eldest daughter of beauty, full of longing for love; the two daughter of joe independent, determined to become a writer; three daughter bess is a traditional girl, gentle and lovely little daughter amy loves painting. the story follows the years when the four women grew up as young women, describing their uninhibited love experiences and their respective pursuit of different ideals and destination.

this is a book that looks very prosaic at the first glance. but when you go deep into it, you will be surprised to find that this book seems to be full of the shadow of yourself or some familiar people. to face and experience all the girls growing up in the age of the girl, can be found in this book: the first love and worry, differences between emotion and reason, the ideal and the reality, the contradiction between the rich and poor. the little woman has no plot of falling rocks and no suspense, but the author tells the familys love by simple words. watching and watching, i can not help but cry for them, inspired by their experience, and even pray for their misfortune. of course i was their humor laugh, they admire the courage to face difficulties...... unconsciously, i felt like i was one of them, watching and thinking about the plot of my mind.

i like meg, i like her love for poverty, not for money temptation character, like her lady style. i like joe, i like her freedom, i love her unswerving determination to dream. i love beth, love her quiet, do anything without complaining, she always love for others good character. i also like amys belief that she is strong and regards poverty alleviation as the responsibility of poverty. their ideals and fates are different, but they all find their best home.

in their view, the home is their growing place, but also a sacred refuge. they listened carefully to their mothers teachings, and used their smart hands and brains to invent another creative and beautiful mind game. the growth process of the four sisters seems to be an interesting educational poem. the author uses neither gorgeous nor boring language to show us the great family, friendship and love of human beings. it seems to me that in the eyes of the four sisters, it is the happiest thing in the world to live forever with the people they love and those who love them.

from them, i learned to be strong, learned to know contentment, but can not meet, i learned to be full of hope for the future, and strive to pursue the dream of optimism. i also learned to double treasure what i have, dont wait for death to lose, only to know their commendable. we should find out the advantages of everyone, not with colored eyes, but see the shortcomings of others.

little women before i read this book, i had watched a cartoon movie made by japan.

so i have a strong interest on it.

it all begins in the dead of winter; the christmas season.

the coldest one of all, were the war has made fuel for heating very scarce.

while her husband is off at war, marmee is left alone to raise their four daughters: jo, meg, beth, and amy.

on christmas eve, marmee has just arrived home from passing out food to the less fortunate with a letter from her husband, the girls father.

the all gather together around the fire to read the letter.

afterwards, the girls are teary eyed.

marmee kisses them and they are off to bed.

jo is longing to become a writer.

so, every night she stays up late writing the script for soap operas.

as morning comes she is the last one awake.

the table is set, and food prepared for their christmas feast.

as dusk falls, the girls are all up in the attic acting out jos play, which she reads from the local (fake) newspaper.

as they are performing, their rich, next-door neighbors grandson watches from the window.

the 2 oldest girls: jo and meg, get ready to attend the christmas ball.

while jo is curling megs hair, there is a strange smell to the air.

amy screams, megs hair is being singed.

they continue digging through the old clothes bin for a pair of white gloves.

one of the prominent themes in little women is the coming of age or maturation of the girls.

during the course of the novel we see them grow in many ways -- physically, intellectually, and especially emotionally.

one question which readers must ask themselves is whether the views the characters have on the coming of age process are shared by alcott.

if they arent, what are alcotts views and how do they differ from those of the women in her story? it is interesting to examine the last half of chapter 20, confidential.

jo addresses the maturation issue as she speaks with marmee of the situation between meg and mr.brooke.

the possible love between these two represents one of the very important aspects in coming of age for a teenage girl.

jo treats this natural process as if it were some sort of disease, however.

jo cannot understand why meg would want to stop behaving like a sensible creature (p.202), and refers to love as such nonsense.

recently read a foreign translation of classics, "little women", often by the author that humorous and lively simple words moved by impregnation, sometimes strongly hope not delay the breath read it; sometimes can't help to slow down to careful aftertaste its classic discourse; even my mind will appear in the book of the picture, the mood ups and downs with the plot ups and downs.

open the cover page of the book, the author of the translation press said it was all girls must read good books. is curiosity, attracted me to read on it is the introduction, the above said by a little girl's experience to us a person what happiness, how to meet the truth.

in this materialistic flying so-called height of the development of the network world, people often ask what is happiness blankly, i also will feel perplexed in the face of such problems. what causes such a dull numbness of the world? and who can be responsible for the "materialistic" situation?

wish all the girls read this book. happiness is in jail, we hand out trick; happiness is when the storm of thunder lightning outside, we can stay warm hut; happiness is another when a child is with parents who are severe control, glad that you have a pair of amiable honorable mom and dad. happiness is when people have money but also ignominy, you i'm glad you have good character.

is really full paper absurd speech! i wish every one of us can cherish the hands have treasure! hope we would be happy!

the cop and the anthem is a december 1904 short story by the united states author o. henry. it includes several of the classic elements of an o. henry story, including a setting in new york city, an empathetic look at the state of mind of a member of the lower class, and an ironic ending. soapy is homeless. he faces the urgent necessity of finding some sort of shelter for the winter. he is psychologically experienced in thinking of the local jail as a de facto homeless shelter. and the narrative shows him developing a series of tactics intended to encourage the police to classify him as a criminal and arrest him.

soapy's ploys include swindling a restaurant into serving him an expensive meal, vandalizing the plate-glass window of a luxury shop, repeating his eatery exploit at a humble diner, sexually harassing a young woman, pretending to be publicly intoxicated, and stealing another man's umbrella. however, all of these attempts are quickly exposed as failures.

as soapy listens to the church organ play an anthem, he experiences a spiritual epiphany in which he resolves to cease to be homeless, end his life as a tramp afflicted with unemployment, and regain his self-respect. soapy recalls that a successful businessman had once offered him a job. lost in a reverie, soapy decides that on the very next day he will seek out this potential mentor and apply for employment.

as soapy stands on the street and considers this plan for his future, however, a policeman taps him on the shoulder and asks him what he is doing. when soapy answers nothing, his fate is sealed: he has been arrested for loitering. in the magistratesquo;s court on the following day, he is convicted of a misdemeanor and is sentenced to three months in riker's island, the new york city jail.

many people simply regard pride and prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. she perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. the characters have their own personalities. mrs. bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. mr. bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, mr. darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. even the five daughters in bennet family are very different. jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. mary likes reading classic books. (actually she is a pedant.) kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, lydia. lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. when i read the book, i can always find the same personalities in the society now. that is why i think this book is indeed the representative of the society in britain in the 18th century.

the family of gentleman in the countryside is jane austen’s favourite topic. but this little topic can reflect big problems. it concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in britain in her century. you can find these from the very beginning of this book.

the first sentence in this book is impressive. it reads: “it is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. the undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.

people always think that austen was an expert at telling love stories. in fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. after reading this book, i know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

i couldn’t forget how eager mrs. bennet wants to marry off her daughters. if you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, i must mention the situation in britain at that time. only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. jane austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

in “pride and prejudice”, the sister of mr. bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying jane because the bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. from this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. the society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

in modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. a lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. marry for money is still a big problem in our society. we can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

austen left this problem for us to think. the genius of jane austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. although austen was only 21 when she wrote “pride and prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. the plots in her works are always very natural. the development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. i think the depth of pride and prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

sentiments inspired by reading harry potter and the philosopher’s stone

he is a boy who has a thin face, black hair and bright-green eyes. he wears round glasses and a thin scar on his forehead which is shaped like a bolt of lightening. he presents you an absolutely different world by waving around his magic wand. he is in possession of a fascinating broom which can help him fly in the sky easily. he is also a boy who has many traits such as bravery, honesty and kindness. who is he? he is our small magic master—harry potter.

all the things started from the platform nine and three-quarters and that’s where our whole story began. harry received a letter of being admitted to a magic school at his eleventh birthday and came to his new school—hogwarts. people there dressed in cloaks, flicked their wands and uttered spells;owls are their messengers; do-it yourself brooms are the means of transportation; all the chess pieces of the chess could think and move obeying the orders of their masters. no wonder so many people were crazy for this novel for everything that happened were just like a fairy tale.

as for the features of writing, all the characters in the novel were fantastic; take the hero and his two friends for example: the author portrayed the hero as a real friend to his friends and a gentleman to those jealous people. he held the profound meaning of friendship and understood the value of family relationship. his personal charm was shining all over the novel! the hero also made friend with two people. one was clever and cute hermione granger and the other was credible and honest ron wesley. they were the very friends cherished by the hero.

meanwhile, dramatic plots went through the whole novel. i was deeply impressed by many scenes in it and what impressed me most was the valuable friendship among harry, ron and hermione. when harry was confronted with the great problem—getting the philosopher’s stone, ron and hermione made their great efforts to help him without hesitation. what i had to mention on their ways to getting the stone were ron’s wonderful wizard chess and hermione’s brilliant logic to the tough puzzle. when playing chess, ron showed his courage. he risked his life and he even had willingness to sacrifice for the victory of the game. his fearless spirit really moved me a lot. misfortune never comes singly; the next problem was the tough puzzle. hermione demonstrated her great breadth of learning and gave a correct answer. she was a real intellectual..thanks to their selfless help, harry could win the last victory.

‘a friend in need is a friend indeed.’ they three held connotation of the word ‘friend’ and willing to pay for friendship at any cost. their inner love for each other presented without reservation. contrary to them, the evil man in the novel—lord voldemort. being cruel, guileful, unscrupulous, he committed all manners of crimes including murder, arson, etc. although he held power and status, he was still overwhelmed with grief. the main reason was that there was no love with him.

all in all, harry and his friends set a good example for us. connecting to our life, we should value our friendships, be with sincere hearts toward others and let others feel our love. believe me, as long as friendship and love exists in your belief, you’ll have a good harvest on your road.

thats my comments on harry potter and the philosphers stone. thats all. thank you so much.

the poor is the work of lev, tolstoy, a famous russian writer. at that time, the russian working people were living in extreme poverty under the dark rule of the tsar, but they were kind hearted and noble minded. the text recounts the fisherman and her wife, sana, who care and sympathize with the neighbor simon. after simon's death, the story of her two orphans is adopted, reflecting the pure and simple compassion of the poor and the noble quality of helping others. through the life of the sanna family, the author reflects the miserable life of the poor people during that period and their perfect mind.

the fisherman's family was very poor, and their days were very tight. but when the wife of the fisherman saw his neighbour simon's death, and the sad and moving picture of the two children who were not sensible, he did not hesitate to take them home. after a series of psychological struggles, fishermen and sanna firmly believe that no matter how hard they are, they should bring up these two children.

in this text, the deepest part of the text is: her head is back, the cold, green face shows the death of the quiet, a pale stiff hand that wants to catch what, hanging from the straw. next to the dead mother, two small children were asleep, with curly hair, a round face, old clothes covered with old clothes, a curly body, and two small heads of light yellow hair close together. apparently, when the mother was dying, she put her clothes on them and hugged their little feet with their old scarves. the child's breathing is even and calm, and the sleeping is sweet. from this startling description of the situation, i realized the poverty and misery of countless working people in the tsarist era, and i also realized the great mother's love and the two children who were worried about the death of simon.

what impressed me most is the description of sanna's words: it's heartbeat badly, do not understand why, but i think it should be done. when sana saw that two poor children were not raised by their mother, they would rather starve themselves or let simon's two orphans starve to death, which fully demonstrated the kindhearted nature of sonna. one of the words of the fisherman moved me out: "we have to take them and how to stay with the dead! oh, we, we can always stay up!" this sentence is so firm, although the fisherman thought about his own days, but also insisted on raising the two orphans of simon, showing the quality of the fisherman's help and the courage to respond. although these words are made up of several simple words, they can reflect their good nature.

reading this story, i think we should learn the poor, not greedy, selfish, more contented, more to share with others, and if we can have a noble, kind and compassionate heart, our life is plain but also very happy. on the contrary, if selfishness and greed are the same as stupid rich people.
